Shefali Jariwala, ‘Kaanta Laga’ Star, Dies at 42 from Reported Cardiac Arrest

Indian actress and model Shefali Jariwala passed away on the night of June 27, 2025, at age 42. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai by her husband, Parag Tyagi, and others, but was declared dead upon arrival. Initial reports cite cardiac arrest as the cause.

Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation and await post-mortem confirmation; no signs of external foul play have been found so far.

Born in Ahmedabad on December 15, 1982, Jariwala became a cultural icon in 2002’s remix of “Kaanta Laga,” which earned her the enduring nickname "Kaanta Laga Girl".

She appeared in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and featured in TV and reality shows, including Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss 13.

Her sudden death has intensified focus on cardiac health in adults under 50, especially women. Experts highlight that cardiac arrest is distinct from a heart attack; one involves electrical malfunction, the other blood flow blockage, and can strike with minimal warning, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Celebrities and fans have openly mourned. Beloved personalities like Mika Singh, Himanshi Khurana, Bharti Singh, and Aly Goni posted tributes. Her husband, visibly heartbroken, carried her remains to cremation at Oshiwara Crematorium on June 28, accompanied by close family and industry friends.

Her tragic passing, compounded by her public struggle with epilepsy and mental health challenges, serves as a stark reminder of hidden risks.

Doctors advise awareness of symptoms like sudden fainting, dizziness, or chest discomfort, even in otherwise healthy individuals. Emergency measures like CPR and defibrillation can be lifesaving.

Her husband, Parag Tyagi, her ex-husband Harmeet Singh, her mother Sunita, sister Shivani, along with countless fans, remain in profound grief. The Mumbai Police continue investigations, with forensic and post-mortem findings pending.

Her untimely absence leaves a void in Indian entertainment. The sudden nature of her demise highlights the importance of regular cardiovascular screenings at younger ages, especially in those with prior health concerns, and taking anti-aging medications and treatments to look younger than their real age, which is common in the entertainment industry.

The news report from IANS details the ongoing investigation into Shefali Jariwala's death, suggesting it may be linked to her long-term use of anti-aging medications. On June 27th around 10 PM, despite fasting for a puja, she self-administered an anti-aging injection, and later that night, her body began trembling before she collapsed, leading to her being rushed to the hospital.

Police have seized various medications, including anti-aging vials, vitamins, and gastric pills, from her residence, and initial findings indicate that the medications could be a major factor in her cardiac arrest that she has been taking these medications from last 8 years but without visiting any expert for this. After talking to doctor once, she started taking these medications from 7/8 years and never taken any advice from a doctor or any expert in all these years.
