SiMa.ai Scores $85M to Fuel Global Push in Physical AI Hardware and Software

SiMa.ai just raised $85 million in fresh capital to scale its Physical AI platform, bringing its total funding to $355 million. The new round was led by Maverick Capital, with support from existing backers and newcomer StepStone Group.

The company’s full-stack offering, SiMa.ai ONE, pairs custom-built silicon with a software-first model that makes deploying AI easier across robotics, automotive, defense, and healthcare. It includes Modalix, the latest multimodal MLSoC now shipping, and Palette, a no-code software suite designed to support every major machine learning framework from vision to generative AI.

“This new funding further validates our leadership in the Physical AI space and the growing demand for Physical AI solutions that deliver best-in-class performance per watt with industry-leading ease of use,” said Krishna Rangasayee, Founder and CEO at SiMa.ai, highlighting the significance of the announcement.

With this latest backing, SiMa.ai plans to double down on software R&D, expand globally, and speed up growth in go-to-market efforts and customer support—especially in automotive, where it sees a major opportunity.

Andrew Homan from Maverick Capital said the startup’s ability to deliver high-performance AI at low power with easy deployment sets it apart in a fast-growing edge market. StepStone’s John Avirett echoed that, pointing to Physical AI as the next wave following generative AI’s surge in data centers.

A related update in the AI hardware space: Nvidia is reportedly preparing to release a next-gen chip aimed at automotive edge computing later this year, intensifying the race in AI performance-per-watt solutions.

As edge AI becomes more competitive, SiMa.ai is positioning itself to lead by solving system-level problems with unified architecture and developer-focused software.
