British actor Jonathan Bailey has been selected by People magazine as its “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2025, with the announcement revealed on the television program The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The 37-year-old actor expressed gratitude and amusement at receiving the title, stating:

“Obviously I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd.”

He noted he shared the news only with his dog Benson.

Bailey takes over the accolade from last year’s recipient John Krasinski, who held the title in 2024.

The actor gained widespread recognition for his role as Lord Anthony in the Netflix series Bridgerton and as Prince Fiyero in the 2024 film adaptation of the musical Wicked, with a sequel planned for release on November 21 2025.

Bailey’s selection marks the first time an openly gay man is named “Sexiest Man Alive” by the magazine.

The “Sexiest Man Alive” feature began in 1985 with Mel Gibson and has included stars such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Michael B. Jordan, and Chris Evans.

Bailey’s career began as a child actor and developed through stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and more recent high-profile film and television roles.

During the announcement segment on Jimmy Fallon’s show, a large version of Bailey’s cover photo was displayed.
