One UI 8 Watch Update Is Rolling Out Globally for Galaxy Watch 6 Series

Samsung has started releasing the One UI 8 Watch update to Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic owners across multiple countries after initial launches in South Korea and the United States.

The software, based on Google's Wear OS 6, carries the firmware version CYK2 and requires a download of about 1.8 gigabytes through the Galaxy Wearable app on a connected smartphone.

Users in India and Vietnam reported receiving the update in recent days, with more regions expected to follow as the company expands availability.

"The update is 1,789.48MB and carries firmware version CYK2," according to a news report by SamMobile on the rollout.

The update introduces a redesigned interface featuring stacked tiles that organize health data, media controls, timers, and other tools for access without extensive swiping.

It adds a smarter Now bar for quicker entry to background apps and improves multitasking.

Animations run smoother, and the health dashboard appears cleaner and more functional.

The software incorporates enhanced Galaxy AI tools for health monitoring, activity tracking, and daily tasks, while making the overall experience faster and more fluid.

"It also brings visual changes to the interface, which makes menus and screens cleaner and more organized," as described in coverage of the global expansion.

Samsung launched its One UI interface for smartphones in 2018 with Android 9 Pie on devices like the Galaxy S10 series.

For smartwatches, the company shifted from its Tizen operating system to Wear OS with the Galaxy Watch4 in 2021, introducing One UI Watch 3 on Wear OS 3.

The Galaxy Watch5 followed in 2022 with One UI Watch 4.5 on Wear OS 3.5, and the Watch6 arrived in 2023 running One UI Watch 5 on Wear OS 4.

In 2024, Samsung released One UI 6 Watch based on Wear OS 5, bringing features from newer models to earlier generations, including the Watch4 and Watch5 series.

The current One UI 8 Watch builds on that progression by integrating Wear OS 6, which Google announced in May 2025, and it first appeared on the Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra models released in July 2025.

"Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 8 Watch update (based on Wear OS 6) for the Galaxy Watch 6 series, beginning in South Korea," as noted in initial reports on the deployment.

To make things hotter, Google recently announced the Aluminum OS, which sounds like a game-changer in the OS industry.
