The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled the 2026 nominees on December 8, with Erivo landing a spot in the best actress in a motion picture musical or comedy category and Grande in the best supporting actress field.
The sequel, which opened in theaters last month, collected five nominations overall, including cinematic and box office achievement plus two original songs, No Place Like Home and The Girl in the Bubble, both penned by Stephen Schwartz.
Erivo, who received word of her nomination during rehearsals for Dracula in London's West End, shared her response on Instagram Stories.
"WOW!! What lovely news to receive live from the rehearsal room of @draculawestend. It’s an honor to be nominated once again for this film. It has been a beautiful journey to play this character, and this is the cherry on top," Erivo wrote.
Grande, speaking in an interview, reflected on the unexpected honor of repeating the achievement.
“It’s so special to have the work be acknowledged in this way. This moment, this morning, is such a special celebration and such a beautiful thing I didn’t expect. You don’t expect a second nomination for the same role. This was very blindsiding and thrilling. I am so humbled and honored," Grande said.
Erivo faces competition from Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Chase Infiniti, Amanda Seyfried and Emma Stone in her category, while Grande contends with nominees including Amy Adams, Karla Sofia Gascon, Felicity Jones, Pamela Anderson and Zoe Saldana.
The awards show airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+ on January 11.
