Confirmed News; Samsung to Launch 'Next-Generation' AR Glasses With Multimodal AI Capabilities in 2026

Samsung plans to introduce next-generation augmented reality glasses featuring multimodal artificial intelligence capabilities later this year, company executives revealed during a conference call with investors.

The announcement came as part of the firm's outlook for 2026 following its fourth-quarter 2025 financial results.

Seong Cho, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile experience division, stated during the call:

"For XR, we plan to deliver rich, immersive multimodal AI experiences through diverse form factors such as next-generation AR glasses."

The glasses represent an expansion of Samsung's extended reality portfolio, which began with the Galaxy XR headset launched in October 2025.

The new device will run on the Android XR operating system, developed in partnership with Google and Qualcomm Technologies, and integrate Google's Gemini AI model at the system level for interactions via voice, vision and gesture.

Samsung has been developing multiple form factors in this category, with the glasses positioned to offer users new ways to engage with technology in daily tasks.

Reports indicate Samsung is preparing two models under internal codes SM-O200P and SM-O200J, both targeted for similar markets but potentially with variations in features.

The first model may lack a built-in display to prioritize lightweight design and AI functions, while a follow-up version with AR display capabilities could arrive in 2027.

Cho also noted the company's focus on slimmer and lighter devices across its lineup for 2026, aligning the glasses with broader hardware goals.
