Japanese startup Ludens AI showcased two AI-powered robot companions named Cocomo and INU at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 5, 2026.
Cocomo features a fuzzy, egg-shaped body on a wheeled base with tiny legs and maintains a body temperature close to 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit that rises to 102 degrees during hugs.
The robot follows users around the house, responds to voice and touch and communicates through hums and sounds.
Ludens AI describes Cocomo as:
"an everyday robot companion with an evolving personality and memory, built to form a relationship through shared routines rather than explicit commands."

Cocomo bonds with owners via spontaneous gestures, imitation and learning preferences and offers multi-sensory interactions including movement, sound, touch and presence.
INU serves as a smaller desktop companion with a wiggling tail and blinking single eye that reacts to voice, motion and proximity with expressive movements and playful sounds.
The company positions INU as a comforting presence for workspaces that interacts via audio and movement.
Ludens AI focuses both robots on emotional engagement and has opened a waitlist for Cocomo while planning a crowdfunding campaign for INU later in the year.
The startup withheld pricing and availability details at the unveiling.
