Xiaomi Launches Leica Leitz Phone with Pro Photography Kit for Global Markets
Xiaomi unveiled the Leica Leitz Phone powered by Xiaomi at an event in Barcelona on February 28, 2026, at 14:00 GMT+1.
Leica Leitz Phone marks the first global release of a Leica-branded smartphone outside Japan, building on a four-year partnership between Xiaomi and Leica.
The phone incorporates a 6.9-inch display with a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels, protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 for enhanced drop resistance.
It's rear side features three Leica-tuned cameras, including a 1-inch main sensor and a 200MP telephoto lens, along with a manual zoom ring around the camera module.
The Leica Leitz Phone comes in an aluminum alloy body with nickel anodization, available in black, white, and starlit green colors.
Storage options include 512GB and 1TB configurations.
The device integrates CAI Photo Authenticity Protection technology to verify image integrity.
It offers thirteen Leica Looks for dedicated photography modes and an Essential mode that emulates the Leica M9 and Leica M3 cameras.
"Leitzphone features a unique mode called ‘Essential mode’ which contains emulations of two of Leica’s most classic and renowned cameras: Leica M9 and Leica M3," according to Xiaomi's official statement.
The phone pairs with the Xiaomi Photography Kit Pro, which includes a grip case, a 2000mAh battery pack, a detachable shutter button, and Fastshot mode for quick captures in street photography scenarios.
The kit attaches to the phone to create a more camera-like handling experience, with the grip providing contoured support and additional power.
"Beyond its Leica design, experience, and imagery, Leica Leitzphone is powered by Xiaomi’s foundation of cutting-edge mobile technology," Xiaomi stated in its launch announcement.
The Leica Leitz Phone runs on Xiaomi's software platform, with Leica overseeing the camera user interface and system design.
The partnership aims to advance mobile imaging through combined hardware and software optimizations. The device is positioned for camera enthusiasts seeking professional-grade features in a smartphone form factor.
