Philips Unveils 27-Inch 2K Gaming Monitor With 425Hz Refresh Rate
Philips expanded its gaming display lineup with the release of the 27M2N5500X, a 27-inch QHD gaming monitor that reaches a 425Hz refresh rate.

The monitor pairs a 2560 x 1440 resolution with Fast IPS panel technology, targeting competitive esports players who want high frame rates without scaling down to 1080p resolution.
Display Performance and Response Times
The 27M2N5500X uses a Fast IPS LCD panel built for rapid pixel response. The display delivers a 0.5-millisecond Moving Picture Response Time (MPRT) and a 1-millisecond Gray-to-Gray (GtG) response time to suppress motion blur, ghosting, and trailing during fast-paced gameplay.
Achieving the headline 425Hz refresh rate requires connection via DisplayPort, while standard display inputs maintain high refresh rate support for modern PC graphics cards and current-generation gaming consoles.
For color performance, the monitor covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 125% of the sRGB color space. This color range supports both competitive gaming and routine content creation tasks.

Hardware Features and Connectivity
The monitor carries official VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, providing a peak brightness of 400 nits along with dynamic contrast adjustments for HDR-enabled titles. Adaptive-Sync integration synchronizes the monitor's refresh rate with output from Nvidia and AMD graphics cards to prevent screen tearing and stuttering.
Physical ports on the back of the chassis include:
- 2x DisplayPort 1.4 inputs
- 2x HDMI 2.0 ports
- USB 3.2 hub with downstream ports for peripherals
- 3.5mm audio jack for headphones or external speakers
The included stand allows 130 millimeters of height adjustment, along with tilt, swivel, and 90-degree pivot settings for vertical display setups.

Market Positioning
By offering a 1440p panel with a 425Hz refresh rate, Philips enters a market section between existing 360Hz IPS displays and high-end 480Hz OLED panels.
The Fast IPS construction allows Philips to price the unit significantly lower than premium OLED counterparts while offering higher motion clarity than previous-generation 240Hz and 360Hz LCD models.
