The hospital is a general medical and surgical facility for children. It is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric and Orthopedic specialties. In 2016, The U.S News & World Report ranked the Seattle Children's Hospital as the 5th best Children's Hospital, 4th in Nephrology, #5 in neonatology, #6th in cancer, #9 in neurology and neurosurgery, #11 in pulmonology and #13 in gastroenterology.

Mona Foundation is a charitable organization named after Mona Mahmudnizhad, an Iranian high school student killed in 1983 for her religious beliefs and taking children lessons in the Baháʼí Faith.
