The updates are expected to include spec bumps for all three devices, with the base model iPad receiving a new A15 Bionic chip, the iPad Air receiving an M2 chip, and the iPad Mini receiving an A16 Bionic chip.

The iPad Air and iPad Mini were both last refreshed last year, while the base model iPad has not been updated since 2021.

Other than the new chips, 9to5Mac reports that Apple is not expected to make any other major changes to the devices' designs or features as the company did with the iPhone 15.

However, there is a rumor that the iPad Mini's display controller may be updated to address the "jelly scroll" issue that has been affecting some devices.

The new iPads are expected to be announced via press release this week, with pre-orders starting shortly after.

In a story published by Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said, “I don’t believe updates of any significance are imminent,” while he also mentioned that Apple has versions of the iPads with new chips in development and they could be released soon.

What does this mean for consumers?

If you're in the market for a new iPad, it's worth waiting until this week to see what Apple announces. The new devices are expected to be more powerful and efficient than their predecessors, and they could also come with some minor design and feature updates.

However, if you're not looking for the latest and greatest, you may be able to find a good deal on a current-generation iPad. Apple is likely to discount the older models in order to make room for the new ones.

Overall, it's an exciting time to be an iPad fan. With new models expected to be announced this week, there are more options than ever before.
