The company, which supplies fresh and frozen pies and crusts to grocery stores and other retailers, did not provide a reason for the closure and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Apple Valley Foods is a subsidiary of Indiana-based Harlan Foods, a family-owned firm operating multiple food manufacturing plants across the United States.

The Chaska facility serves as the headquarters for Apple Valley Foods US, an offshoot of the Canada-based parent company.

Positions affected by the layoffs include line operators, production leads, sanitation operators, production supervisors, forklift operators, quality assurance technicians, packaging line attendants, maintenance supervisors, research and development technicians, associate warehouse managers, and sanitation managers.

The Minnesota State Rapid Response Team has assigned a senior specialist to assist affected workers and assess the impact of the closure.

Apple Valley Foods' other commercial bakery in Austin, Minnesota, remains operational and is currently hiring for several roles.
