Google updates its iconic "G" logo for the first time in 10 years
For the first time since 2015, Google has updated its iconic single-letter “G” logo, introducing a subtle yet significant design shift that reflects the company’s evolving visual identity and its growing emphasis on artificial intelligence.

The new logo transitions from the traditional solid red, yellow, green, and blue segments to a seamless gradient blend of the same colors. This change offers a more contemporary look, aligning with the gradient style used in Google’s Gemini logo.
According to 9to5Google, the redesign was first observed in updates to the Google app on iOS and Pixel devices. As of now, the updated gradient “G” is only visible on these platforms, while other Android devices and web platforms still display the older version with distinct color segments.

This update marks the first significant revision to the “G” logo since September 2015, when Google adopted a sans-serif typeface and incorporated all brand colors into the logo’s design.
While the core Google wordmark remains unchanged for now, speculation is rife that other logos, such as those for Chrome, Maps, and Gmail, might also adopt similar gradient styles.
The redesign has sparked a mix of reactions online, ranging from curiosity about larger changes ahead to discussions about the subtlety of the update.
Overall, Google’s modest logo update hints at a more cohesive and AI-driven visual identity, signaling potential broader shifts in the tech giant’s branding strategy.
