Cybernetix Ventures Launches $100M Fund to Back the Next Wave of Robotics and Physical AI Startups

Cybernetix Ventures is doubling down on robotics. The Boston-based venture capital firm just announced its second fund of $100 million aimed squarely at early-stage robotics, automation, and physical AI startups. With 23 companies already under its belt from the first fund—including Raise Robotics, Rugged Robotics, and Airworks—the firm is looking to scale its impact across sectors like construction, agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare.

This isn’t a generalist VC firm dipping a toe into automation. Led by robotics veterans Fady Saad and Mark Martin, who bring five decades of combined experience, Cybernetix is positioning itself as a go-to for founders building hardware-driven intelligence for real-world industries.

“We've been evangelizing the inevitable potential of intelligent machines for over a decade, and the emergence of physical AI has finally made once-theoretical use cases commercially viable,” said General Partner Fady Saad, highlighting the significance of the announcement. “Robotics is no longer a fringe interest; it's a distinct, nuanced asset class with unique dynamics.”

Cybernetix sees roughly 1,200 investment opportunities each year and has already shown strong returns, with portfolio companies seeing valuation increases as they’ve matured. That growth matches broader market signals: the global AI in robotics market hit $12.77 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $124.77 billion by 2030, according to Grandview Research.

The new fund also signals an expansion into climate and agriculture technologies, with Mark DeSantis—an agriculture robotics specialist—joining as a new advisor. Cybernetix’s board already includes names from iRobot, Amazon Robotics, Tufts, and other major players.

Adding to their ecosystem play, Cybernetix also runs Robotics Invest, an annual event that’s grown into a must-attend gathering for industry insiders. Now entering its third year, the June 2025 conference in Boston will feature speakers from Clearpath Robotics, Re:Build Manufacturing, JP Morgan, Evercore, and more, with panels designed to demystify robotics investing in a world still largely optimized for software.
