According to media reports, the initiative was signalled by a teaser video posted to an account named @Bangers showing the date 11.10.25, which quickly gathered more than one million views in just seven hours.
The “Bangers” feed will operate as a curated collection of individual posts selected using a combination of algorithmic engagement metrics and editorial review by X’s product team, rather than relying on hashtag-trending topics or broad theme indices.
Posts deemed to qualify are those that “have achieved exceptional traction, humour, or impact,” according to X’s Head of Product Nikita Bier, who encouraged users to submit examples of “good bangers”.
A separate article noted the Bangers account carries gold verification, suggesting prominence within X’s creator ecosystem.
X’s shift to spotlight singular high-performing posts occurs amid its broader strategy to reposition itself as a creator-first platform. Prior efforts include expanding creator earnings, providing deeper analytics, and changing feed ranking algorithms to prioritise wider reach beyond follower circles.
Bangers seeks to channel that trajectory by offering a public showcase of viral content and the creators behind it.
For the Nerds:
X originated as Twitter in 2006 and has steadily evolved from a text-based microblogging platform into one where media, creators and monetisation play increasingly large roles.
In recent years, competing platforms such as TikTok and Instagram have emphasised discovery feeds and virality as means to surface content beyond immediate networks. X’s adoption of Bangers may be seen as a response to that trend.
Unanswered questions surround the rollout: X has not publicly disclosed when Bangers will be fully integrated into the timeline, whether featured creators will receive financial incentives or how frequently the feed will update.
Early beta insights suggest the company may start with a dedicated account before expanding into a full-scale feed.
X’s announcement of Bangers also coincides with another test of inline playback for YouTube videos within the X timeline on iOS.
A snippet posted by analyst Aaron Perris showed YouTube videos playing directly in the timeline without switching apps, “when turned on, allows YouTube to play videos automatically in your timeline as well as collect data about your interaction with its videos,” according to a tweet.
The Bangers feature and inline playback test suggest X is placing increased emphasis on media consumption and creator visibility as it competes with other social networks for user attention and time.
However, Grok's AI chatbot, in a reply to the same post, suggested that Bangers could be related to the revival of the Vine app. It said:
Based on recent announcements, "11.10.25" appears to be teasing the launch of an AI-powered revival of Vine on X (formerly Twitter). Elon Musk confirmed in July 2025 that Vine would return "in AI form," enabling users to create viral short videos quickly via xAI tech. Original Vine archives were reportedly recovered by X devs on Nov 8.
