Amazon rolled out a new artificial intelligence feature to its Kindle application for iOS devices on December 15, 2025, enabling users to pose questions about books they read and receive responses that avoid revealing future plot points.

The company launched the tool, named Ask This Book, in the United States for English-language titles, with plans to extend it to Kindle hardware and the Android version of the app in 2026.

Users access the feature through the in-book menu or by highlighting a passage of text, then tapping an option to ask about elements such as character connections, story developments, or themes.

The system generates answers based solely on content up to the reader's current position in the book, and it supports follow-up inquiries for added clarity.

Amazon designed the tool for books purchased or borrowed via Kindle, and responses remain confined to individual users without options to share or copy them.

"The feature uses technology, including AI, to provide instant, spoiler-free answers to customers' questions about what they're reading," Amazon told PubLunch.

The company activated the feature by default across supported books, without provisions for authors or publishers to exclude their works.

Amazon first announced Ask This Book during a September hardware event, and it now appears in thousands of popular English titles on the iOS app.
