After iOS 26.2, Apple released the first beta of iOS 26.3 to developers on Monday, introducing a built-in option to transfer data from an iPhone to an Android device without cables.

The feature appears in the Settings app under General, then Transfer or Reset iPhone, where users find a button labeled "Transfer to Android."

It uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for a peer-to-peer connection, allowing the iPhone to pair with an Android phone by scanning a QR code or entering a numerical code.

Once connected, the tool moves contacts, messages, photos, notes, apps and the phone number to the Android device.

Both devices require the latest software versions to complete the process, and the iPhone must connect to Wi-Fi with Bluetooth enabled.

Health data, Bluetooth device pairings and locked notes do not transfer, according to the feature's help text.

"Transfer to Android" doesn't require any wires or cables and relies on a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection similar to how AirDrop works.

The European Commission confirmed last week that Apple developed the system to meet requirements of the Digital Markets Act, but the company plans a global rollout.

Google offers a comparable tool on Android for transferring data to an iPhone, enabling users to place the devices side by side for the exchange.

The public version of iOS 26.3 is expected early next year, following additional beta testing.
