First look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the live-action ‘TOMB RAIDER’ series

The released image reveals a faithful yet modernized take on the character’s classic 1996 silhouette. Sophie Turner is seen sporting a cropped green tank top, a tactical harness, and short cargo shorts, her hair pulled back into Croft’s signature braid (ponytail). Adding a touch of vintage flair, she also wears the red-tinted aviators that became a staple of the character's early inventory.
The series is being spearheaded by Emmy-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. Waller-Bridge is joined by co-showrunner Chad Hodge and director Jonathan van Tulleken (Shōgun).
"I'm thrilled beyond measure," Turner said in a statement. "Lara Croft is a fierce female role model who means so much to so many. I’m giving everything I’ve got to fill these massive shoes."
While plot details remain largely under wraps, the production has confirmed a heavy-hitting supporting cast:
- Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis (a mysterious new character)
- Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay (Lara’s uncle)
- Bill Paterson as Winston (the Croft family butler)
- Celia Imrie as Francine
- Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip
Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has reportedly undergone a grueling physical transformation for the role.
Following her casting in late 2025, she began a regimen consisting of eight-hour workouts, five days a week, to prepare for the high-octane stunts required of the globe-trotting archaeologist.
With the Tomb Raider franchise having sold over 95 million games since its debut nearly 30 years ago, the stakes for this Prime Video revival couldn't be higher. This series marks the first time the character has been played in live-action since Alicia Vikander’s 2018 film.
