LG announced its CLOiD home robot, an AI-powered device that folds and stacks laundry after drying cycles, retrieves items from refrigerators and prepares simple meals such as placing croissants in ovens.
The unveiling took place ahead of public demonstrations scheduled for CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9 at booth 15004 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The robot consists of a head unit with cameras, sensors and a display for communication, a torso with two arms each offering seven degrees of freedom and five-fingered hands for manipulation, and a wheeled base for navigation derived from LG's vacuum technology.
LG stated the device uses vision language models to interpret environments and perform actions based on thousands of hours of training data on household tasks.
“The LG CLOiD home robot is designed to naturally engage with and understand the humans it serves, providing an optimized level of household help,” said Steve Baek, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company.
The robot integrates with LG's ThinQ platform to control connected appliances and learn user patterns for autonomous operation in kitchens, laundry rooms and living areas.
LG plans to show the CLOiD starting laundry cycles, folding garments, unloading dishwashers and serving food during CES demonstrations.

The company described the robot as part of its vision for homes where machines handle daily chores.
“CLOiD is intended to reduce the time and physical effort required for everyday chores,” LG said in a statement on Sunday.
The device's actuators, branded AXIUM, combine motors and reducers for torque and efficiency in modular form.
LG positioned the CLOiD as its first multitasking autonomous home robot for consumers.
