OnePlus Dismantled: A Fake News Dismissed by The CEO

OnePlus India chief executive Robin Liu denied reports that the smartphone company was shutting down operations and called the claims false in a statement posted to X on January 21, 2026.

The response followed a January 20 report from Android Headlines that alleged OnePlus was being dismantled because of falling shipments, lowered demand in India and canceled product commitments.

Liu addressed the speculation directly and affirmed that business continued normally.

"I wanted to address some misinformation that has been circulating about OnePlus India and its operations. We’re operating as usual and will continue to do so. Never Settle," Liu wrote in the post.

OnePlus North America issued a separate confirmation on January 20 that operations in the region proceeded without interruption and that the company remained committed to its customers there.

The Android Headlines article cited unnamed sources and described evidence of the company's collapse as damning, with publisher Chris Yackulic stating the brand was being wound down to honor remaining obligations.

Liu urged stakeholders to verify information from official sources and dismissed the reports as unverified in his X post.

OnePlus faced challenges in India during 2024 when nearly 4,500 retail stores across six states halted sales of its devices.

The company also dealt with internal restructuring rumors tied to its parent firm Oppo but did not comment on those specifics in the recent statements.

"Recent unverified reports claiming OnePlus is shutting down are false. OnePlus India's business operations continue as normal," the company said in an additional clarification.
