The New York-based game developer made the announcement on November 6, 2025, through its official website and social media channels.
GTA 6 game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles at launch, with a PC version expected to follow at a later date.
Rockstar Games stated in the official announcement that Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026, and apologized too by saying:
"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."
Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed the delay of the largest game launch ever during its quarterly earnings report on the same day.
The shift provides the development team with additional time to complete the title.
"It’s always painful when we move a date," Take-Two Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick said during an investor call. "We’ve never regretted it in retrospect."
The game returns players to a modern-day Vice City within the fictional state of Leonida.
