San Francisco police officers responded to the Fairmont hotel on the 900 block of Mason Street at approximately 3:14 a.m. on Jan. 1 after reports of a deceased person, where medics declared an adult female dead at the scene. The woman was identified as Victoria Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones.

"On 1/1/26 at approximately 3:14 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a hotel located on the 900 block of Mason street regarding a report of a deceased person," a San Francisco Police Department spokesperson said.

A hotel guest discovered Jones unresponsive and lying on the ground in a hallway on the 14th floor and alerted staff, who began CPR and called for an ambulance.

Paramedics pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Cause of Death:

The San Francisco Fire Department dispatch audio from the incident described the emergency as a "code 3 for the overdose, color change."

No signs of foul play appeared at the scene, and authorities found no drug paraphernalia or indications of trauma to the body.

  • Police also ruled out suicide as the cause of death of Victoria Jones.

The San Francisco medical examiner took over the investigation to determine the cause of death.

"At the scene, officers met with medics, who declared the adult female deceased. The Medical Examiner arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD."

Jones had faced arrests for drug possession in the past year, according to court records.

It remains unclear whether Jones was registered as a guest at the hotel or how she accessed the 14th floor.
