Vivo V40 Receives Android 16-Powered OriginOS 6 Update in Limited Trial

Vivo started deploying the OriginOS 6 software update based on Android 16 to V40 smartphones through a beta trial program accessible to select users.
The firmware carries the version number PD2363BF_EX_A_16.2.6.15.W30 and requires a 4.3GB download.

Users access the build by going to Settings, then About Phone, then System updates, then version Trial, then Trial version, and then download and install, with the device needing at least 40% battery charge and a data backup recommended beforehand.
The company launched the V40 with Android 14, making this the second major operating system upgrade for the model.
The rollout began in regions including India, where users reported receiving the update as early as December 30, 2025.
Vivo plans to expand availability to all V40 owners after the trial phase concludes.
The update introduces a revamped user interface with features such as a new Origin Island for real-time notifications on system status, music playback, and key information.
It also adds a redesigned Control Center with separated notifications for higher display efficiency, improved lighting effects including edge light and diffuse light, and new system fonts like vivo Sans for enhanced readability across more than 40 languages.
Lock screen enhancements include new clock styles with customizable positions, colors, and fonts, plus additional widgets and kits for weather, step count, and battery level.
Performance upgrades encompass faster app launches through a Snap-up engine for ticketing apps, smoother animations via a dual rendering architecture, better multitasking, and optimized battery life with an energy efficiency engine and bypass charging mode.
A new Translucent color system brings lightness and clarity to the interface, adding depth while ensuring text and icons remain crisp, clear, and easy to read.
AI additions cover document scanning in Vivo DocMaster for converting paper to digital with handwriting cleanup, AI captions for real-time speech-to-text transcription and multilingual translation, and AI image editing tools like Magic Move for dragging subjects and filling backgrounds intelligently.
Privacy features incorporate a dedicated Private Space for encrypted apps and files, clipboard privacy recognition to protect sensitive data, and blank data authorization for call logs, SMS, contacts, and events.
The update integrates stock Android 16 elements alongside these customizations.
