Wonder, the parent company of Grubhub, acquired Claim, a restaurant rewards application founded in 2021, in a deal announced on January 20, 2026.

The acquisition integrates Claim's cash-back rewards system, which allows diners to earn automatic rebates on dine-in and pick-up orders without scanning codes or entering promotions, into Grubhub's platform, serving more than 415,000 merchants and nearly 20 million users.

Claim partners with restaurants to offer tailored promotions that increase foot traffic and provide performance insights through a dashboard, with the technology set to launch immediately for Grubhub merchants and diners in New York City before expanding nationwide later in 2026.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, though Claim had raised a total of $20 million in funding, including a $12 million Series A round in October 2024, leading to a valuation estimated at $62 million by Pitchbook.

Claim will continue to operate through its own app and website in the short term, with plans to create a unified experience across Grubhub and Claim platforms in the coming months.

All members of Claim's team received offers to join Grubhub following the deal.

"Claim’s innovative rewards technology introduces a powerful new way for our restaurant partners to engage in-person diners and builds on Grubhub’s robust existing suite of marketing tools," said Howard Migdal, chief executive officer of Grubhub.

"By combining a delightful rewards experience and powerful machine learning models, we match restaurants with their next regulars," said Sam Obletz, co-founder and chief executive officer of Claim.

Claim's system analyzes diner behavior to connect users with restaurants and automatically applies cash-back rewards at the point of payment, partnering with brands such as Joe & the Juice, Just Salad, Blank Street, Bluestone Lane and Wonder itself.
