Xiaomi Launches Redmi Turbo 5 Max in China (World's First Dimensity 9500s Smartphone Packs 9,000mAh Battery)

Xiaomi held an event in Beijing on January 29, 2026, where the company unveiled the Redmi Turbo 5 Max as part of its Turbo 5 series.

The device became the first smartphone globally to incorporate the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, built on a 3nm process with one Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores, paired with an Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU.

Officials positioned the phone in the mid-range segment, targeting users who prioritize battery endurance and processing power.

The Redmi Turbo 5 Max houses a 9,000mAh battery, which supports 100W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging through Xiaomi's Surge P3 technology and G1 battery management chip.

Its display measures 6.83 inches with an AMOLED panel at 2,772 x 1,280 pixel resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and peak brightness of 3,500 nits, along with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

The phone weighs 219 grams and measures 162.99mm x 77.93mm x 8.15mm, featuring a metal frame and IP69K dust and water resistance rating.

On the camera front, the rear setup includes a 50MP primary sensor using the Light Fusion 600 with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide lens, while the front houses a 20MP selfie camera.

The device runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box, with additional features such as stereo speakers, an infrared sensor, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, and dual-SIM support.

In an official post on Weibo, Redmi stated:

"REDMI Turbo 5 Max as a new positioning above the Pro, featuring the world's first MediaTek Dimensity 9500s flagship chip for maximum performance, a 9000mAh maximum Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery for extended battery life, and a flagship design and experience that surpass its class."

The company also noted the phone "aims to lead mid-range performance breakthroughs and experience innovations with comprehensive maximum capabilities."

Sales began immediately after the launch through Xiaomi's online store in China, with color options including Auspicious Cloud White, Ocean Blue, Sunshine Orange, and Shadow Black.

Pricing sets the base model at 2,499 yuan for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, 2,799 yuan for both the 12GB RAM with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM with 256GB storage variants, and 3,099 yuan for the top 16GB RAM with 512GB storage configuration.

Xiaomi has not announced plans for international availability at this time.
