Fallout 4 Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 with Comprehensive Anniversary Edition

Bethesda Game Studios released Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 24, 2026, delivering the post-apocalyptic role-playing game to Nintendo hardware for the first time.

The digital version became available immediately through the Nintendo eShop, with a physical code-in-box edition set to follow on April 28, 2026.

This marks the expansion of the 2015 title, originally launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, to a new platform amid ongoing interest in the Fallout series following related media adaptations.

The edition encompasses the complete base game, which places players in the role of a Vault dweller emerging into the ruined Commonwealth of Boston in 2287, 210 years after a nuclear war.

Players navigate an open-world environment, engaging in combat, exploration, settlement building, and decision-making that affects factions and story outcomes.

All six official add-ons are incorporated: Automatron, which introduces robot customization and a new quest line involving a mechanist threat; Wasteland Workshop, enabling the capture and taming of creatures for settlements; Far Harbor, expanding to a fog-shrouded island with new factions and moral choices; Contraptions Workshop, adding manufacturing machines for item creation; Vault-Tec Workshop, allowing the construction and management of personal vaults; and Nuka-World, featuring a raider-overrun amusement park with new territories to conquer.

Over 150 curated items from the Creation Club are integrated directly into the game world, eliminating the need for a separate menu.

These additions include new quests, weapons, armor sets, player homes, companions, and customization options such as different breeds for the canine companion Dogmeat, including husky and Dalmatian variants.

The content enhances gameplay with elements like Enclave remnants, holiday-themed decorations, and additional workshop items for building and crafting.

"Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, marking the first time the game has launched on a Nintendo console," Bethesda stated in its official announcement.

The release also extends digitally to other platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, ensuring cross-platform access to the updated package.

The ESRB rates the game Mature 17+ for blood and gore, intense violence, strong language, and use of drugs, with in-game purchases available.

Bethesda developed the port to leverage the Switch 2's capabilities, allowing portable play of the expansive world that includes scavenging ruins, battling mutants, and forming alliances.
