The funding values Runway at $5.3 billion.
This nearly doubles the $3.3 billion valuation from its Series D round in April 2025 when the company raised $308 million also led by General Atlantic.
Runway said the capital will support development of world models.
"World models are the most transformative technology of our time," Cristóbal Valenzuela wrote in the company announcement.
He further added:
"This capital lets us pre-train the next generation of world models and bring them to new products and industries."
The company has developed physics-aware AI video generation models and maintains a customer base in media, entertainment and advertising.
Runway recently released Gen 4.5, its latest video generation model with native audio, longform capabilities and advanced editing tools.
It plans to expand its team of roughly 140 people across research, engineering and go-to-market roles.
