DoorDash Grandma Hands McDonald's Order to President Trump at White House in Viral Video
A DoorDash driver (being dubbed as DoorDash Grandma) from Arkansas, identified as Sharon Simmons delivered two McDonald's bags directly to President Donald Trump outside the Oval Office on Monday, an encounter captured on video and quickly shared across social media platforms.
Simmons, who has completed more than 14,000 deliveries for the platform and is referred to in posts as the "DoorDash grandma," approached the White House as Trump stepped out for an informal media interaction.
Trump accepted the order on camera and turned the moment into a discussion of his no-tax-on-tips policy.
According to multiple accounts of the footage, DoorDash Grandma told the president the measure contributed to an extra $11,000 in her recent tax refund. She also mentioned that her husband is undergoing cancer treatment.
In the exchange, Trump remarked that the delivery "doesn't look staged" before asking Simmons whether she voted for him. She responded with a laugh and "Maybe."
He followed up with a question about men participating in women's sports. DoorDash Grandma said she did not have an opinion on the topic.
Trump replied that she did know her view. The driver emphasized that she had come to discuss the cash benefits from tips.
Trump handed her a $100 bill as the interaction ended.
Videos of the scene spread rapidly on X within minutes of the event, with users posting clips showing Trump receiving the bags at the White House doors.

One post from commentator Chad Prather described the delivery as occurring "at the doors of the Oval Office."
Another from Eric Daugherty identified Simmons by name and noted the delivery as the first of its kind to the White House via the app.
DoorDash has made no public comment on the incident. The company was not involved in arranging the delivery beyond processing the order through its platform.
DoorDash Grandma Sharon Simmons appeared in a shirt referencing her DoorDash role and was not identified in advance by the White House as part of any scheduled event.
The episode comes as DoorDash maintains its lead in the U.S. food delivery sector. Industry data from the fourth quarter of 2025 showed the company holding roughly 63 percent of the domestic market, ahead of competitors including Uber Eats.
Shares of DoorDash have traded in the $150 range in recent sessions following earlier gains tied to order growth and expansion into grocery and retail categories, though no immediate movement was linked to Monday's White House delivery.
The interaction highlights how gig workers on platforms like DoorDash can intersect with national policy conversations.
DoorDash Grandma Simmons' comments focused squarely on the financial impact of the tip policy rather than broader political endorsement.
No further details have emerged about how the order reached the White House or whether Simmons was aware in advance that she would interact directly with the president.
