X Launches Cashtags with Real-Time Stock and Crypto Charts on iPhone in US and Canada
X has rolled out its new Cashtags feature, which embeds live price charts and market data for stocks and cryptocurrencies directly into the app. The update went live Tuesday on the iPhone app for users in the United States and Canada.

When users search for or post a cashtag such as $TSLA or $BTC, or even paste a crypto contract address, X now suggests the exact matching asset.
Tapping the cashtag pulls up a dedicated view showing recent posts about that ticker alongside its real-time price chart, all without leaving the platform.
The new system addresses a longstanding issue with the original cashtag format introduced in 2012, where the same symbol could refer to multiple assets and scatter discussions.
X head of product Nikita Bier announced the launch in a post on the platform.
"𝕏 has always been the best source of financial news for traders and investors," he wrote. "Billions of dollars are allocated every day based on what people read on Timeline. Today we're launching our new Cashtags feature in the US and Canada on iPhone, bringing real-time financial data to X."
The feature builds on previews shared earlier this year under the working name Smart Cashtags.
It supports stocks, major cryptocurrencies, exchange-traded funds, and on-chain tokens by allowing direct input of smart contract addresses.

This gives users access to price data and conversations around smaller or newer assets that might not appear in traditional searches.
For Canadian users, X has added a pilot integration with Wealthsimple, the country's largest brokerage.
A dedicated button appears on Cashtag pages that lets users place trades for stocks or crypto directly from the app. Bier described the move as a step toward frictionless execution.
"Our vision is more than just charts," he added in a follow-up post. "The content on X is valuable and actionable, so trading should be frictionless. Today we're also announcing a pilot integration with @Wealthsimple, Canada's leading brokerage. Users in Canada will see a button on Cashtags so they can trade seamlessly from X. This is just a small preview of what's to come."
X itself does not act as a broker or execute trades.
The Cashtags page surfaces data and related discussion while routing orders through the partner brokerage where applicable.
The initial iOS rollout in the US and Canada follows Apple's App Store review process for financial features and positions the company to expand more broadly afterward.
The debut comes as X continues to layer financial tools into the platform, including the ongoing beta of X Money for peer-to-peer payments.
Bier indicated that web and Android support, along with wider geographic availability, will arrive soon.
Cashtags on X is the first public release of the enhanced ticker system that X has been iterating toward since January.
