TECNO POVA 8 5G arrives in India
TECNO has rolled out the POVA 8 5G, a device built around serious battery stamina and a distinctive back panel that lights up with notifications and animations.
Launched on June 11, 2026, in India, the phone targets users who want long hours of use without constant charging, paired with some flair on the outside.
The standout element is the Alive Matrix Display, a customizable LED panel on the rear that activates for calls, messages, charging, gaming, and music.

It comes with dozens of preset patterns, and owners can create their own sequences. TECNO wrapped the phone in a sci-fi look with sharp lines, a semi-transparent back, and a triangular camera area that houses the actual 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor alongside the light matrix.
On the front sits a 6.76-inch FHD+ LCD panel running at 144Hz with low blue light certification. Inside, a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset handles the work, backed by 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
TECNO added its own G1 signal chip for better cellular reception in tough spots and an SE1 chip for steadier Wi-Fi. A large graphite cooling layer keeps things in check during longer sessions.

Battery life forms the main pitch for TECNO POVA 8 5G. The 8,000mAh cell is billed for two full days of typical use, with claimed figures of over 85 hours of music, 29 hours of YouTube, and 14 hours of Mobile Legends gameplay on a single charge.

It supports 45W wired charging and carries IP64 dust and splash resistance plus military-grade durability testing.
The camera setup keeps things straightforward: 50MP main with 2x lossless zoom on the back and 13MP on the front.

Software adds AI tools like automatic YouTube video summaries with timestamps, noise cancellation for calls, and LightMaster 2.0 for cleaning up reflections and shadows in photos.
In some regions, facial scanning offers basic health estimates, though TECNO notes it is not a medical device.
Pricing starts at ₹29,999 for the 6GB/128GB version and ₹31,999 for 8GB/128GB.
Colors in India include 16-Bit White, Terminal Green, and Plasma Orange.
Sales begin June 18 through Flipkart and retail stores. Global rollout with additional shades like Arc White and Graphite Black will follow.
Arij eet Talapatra, CEO of TECNO Mobile India, said at launch:
"Most smartphones today are designed to blend into the background. POVA 8 was created for people who were never interested in the background to begin with. From the ALIVE Matrix lighting and cyberpunk-inspired design to the massive 8000mAh battery and triple-chipset connectivity — every element of POVA 8 is built to challenge convention. With POVA 8, we are not introducing another smartphone. We are giving consumers a bold new way to Delete Normal."
The phone ships with Android 16 and HiOS 16, along with promises of two major OS updates and three years of security patches.
Buyers also get three years of 256GB cloud storage, and eligible users in some markets receive a trial of Google AI Plus with extra storage.
Early reactions highlight the battery and unique rear display as clear draws in a crowded mid-range field, though some note the LCD screen and storage type as areas where competitors may push harder on specs.
For users chasing endurance and a phone that actually stands out when it rings, the POVA 8 5G makes a direct case.
