Universal Kids Resort, the first theme park from Universal Destinations & Experiences designed specifically for kids and their families, will officially open its gates on July 1, 2026, in Frisco.

The 32-acre resort, located in the heart of Frisco near the Dallas North Tollway, features a dedicated theme park with seven immersive themed lands built around beloved characters and franchises.

Construction began in late 2023, and the project is on track for its summer debut after years of development.

Tickets, hotel packages at the on-site Universal Kids Resort Hotel, and the park’s first annual pass options went on sale following the announcement, allowing families to start planning their “kidcations” immediately.

Hotel stays are scheduled to begin June 30, 2026, giving guests early access to the experience.

7 Themed Lands for Young Adventurers

The park promises hands-on, age-appropriate attractions, interactive play areas, shows, dining, and shopping tailored for younger guests.

The seven lands include:

  1. DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
  2. Puss in Boots
  3. Trolls
  4. Gabby’s Dollhouse
  5. SpongeBob SquarePants
  6. Minions (including Minions: Bello Bay Club)
  7. Jurassic World

These areas emphasize imagination, play, and discovery with kid-sized thrills, sensory-friendly spaces, and opportunities for families to interact with favorite characters.

A 300-room, five-story hotel located steps from the park entrance will offer themed accommodations, dining options, and easy access so families can maximize their time without long travel between rest and play.

The opening of Universal Kids Resort greatly enhances Frisco's status as a growing entertainment and family destination in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

City officials have welcomed the development, which is expected to draw visitors from across the region and beyond.

This project represents Universal’s first regional, kid-centric theme park concept in the United States.

While smaller in scale than the company’s flagship resorts in Orlando and Hollywood, it focuses exclusively on creating joyful, low-stress experiences for families with younger children.
