Robbie Cumming Confirms Romance with His Partner Lyndsey After Canal Boat Diaries Finale

Robbie shared the news in a carousel of photos taken not long after production wrapped earlier this year.

He wrote the caption as fans waited for confirmation after seeing Lyndsey on screen the night before.

"Introducing my girlfriend Lyndsey! FINALLY after last night's cameo at the end of series 7 on Canal Boat Diaries I can now go 'instagram official' and share a few pics of us from not long after we finished filming earlier this year,"

The carousel opens with a playful selfie beside a canal lock and moves to a frame of Lyndsey steering the narrowboat Naughty Lass alone. Other images show the pair cooking bacon and toast in the small galley, watching a live show from a theatre balcony, and walking hand in hand along a muddy towpath in autumn. The set presents a shared life on the water and off the boat.

The timing links directly to series 7. The new run is Robbie's first journey to Wales by narrowboat after 10 years living aboard Naughty Lass. The series follows a route filled with aqueducts, canal tunnels and tricky lock flights and continues to share the highs and lows of life on an aging boat.

Series 7 premiered on May 18 2026 and took Naughty Lass from Llangollen into England's North West. The journey includes the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Llangollen and Montgomery Canals, territory Robbie said he avoided for years because it is busy and demanding. The show records unexpected running repairs and daily challenges of travelling on the water.

Fans reacted quickly to the Instagram post. Comments filled with heart emojis and congratulations. Many followers referenced the finale and called the ending wholesome.

One follower wrote:

"Aww lovely photos, all the best for the future xx"

Another wrote:

"Great last episode Robbie - a wholesome ending"

A third joked the announcement needed a spoiler alert. The tone across replies was positive and celebratory, with viewers saying they looked forward to seeing more of the couple on future trips.

Britains News described the move as going Instagram official and said fans are celebrating the couple's new chapter together. The outlet reported that Cumming expressed excitement about sharing the relationship publicly after keeping it private during filming.

Lyndsey is not new to viewers who follow Robbie's music life. Interviews published this year describe her as metal loving and deeply involved in the boating routine. The Naughty Lass has become the Love Boat in recent coverage.

The outlet wrote:

"The Naughty Lass has become the Love Boat, as Robbie often talked in the past of meeting a lovely lass in series past. Now he has with Metal-loving Lyndsey, who also joined me for a chat."

Lyndsey described the first meeting as casual and unconnected to television. She said she did not know Robbie from the show before they met at a rock pub.

Lyndsey said:

"We met at rock pub, and I hadn't heard about Canal Boat Diaries and did not know who he was before we met."

Robbie said the meeting happened during a break from filming series 7. He named the venue as a favourite Sheffield pub and said the location helped set a relaxed start.

Robbie said:

"This is where Lyndsey and I met during a break from filming series 7,"

He added:

"Which helped,"

The couple share a taste for heavy music. Lyndsey favors thrash metal from Kreator to Cannibal Corpse and Robbie said they visit every venue near the mooring to hear live acts. Robbie also enjoys what he calls Diet Coke rock like Babymetal and said the match works because both love loud guitars and live shows.

In a joint interview they listed rock pubs they recommend for a pint and good music. The Dove and Rainbow in Sheffield is where they met.

Ye Olde Salutation in Nottingham is described as the legendary rock pub with caves beneath. The Flapper in Birmingham has a balcony overlooking the canal and boats. Rufus T Firefly in Glasgow is praised for friendly staff and a good mix of rock and metal.

The World's End in Camden offers a massive bar area for meeting before a gig. Blind Pig in Sowerby Bridge is where they celebrated filming the ending of series 7. Grand Central in Manchester is called unpretentious and good for chatting to randoms and watching small bands. The pair said they want to go to Download festival.

Life on board now includes two people, a film crew at times, and a loud sound system. Robbie said the boat gets cramped when crew join and that making a cup of tea often draws walkers who look in and call out.

He said:

"With us and then a film crew, it does get a bit cramped, but we love the Naughty Lass, so no."

He said walkers pop by and shout hello when the couple make tea, and that the situation can feel awkward when they try to relax.

Robbie said they blast metal from the boat and that 90s and 2000s nu metal currently has the boat rocking.

The announcement also recalls an earlier chapter in Robbie's canal life. In a Great British Life feature he spoke about finding love on Yorkshire's waterways and being photographed with girlfriend Alice on the Rochdale Canal at Hebden Bridge. The piece said he made a career from living on his narrowboat and found love on Yorkshire's canals.

That article described how he left Dorset for London to pursue illustration, struggled for work, lived on a friend's narrowboat, and saved to buy the rust bucket Naughty Lass.

His YouTube channel Robbie Cumming's Voyage Logs and the BBC's Canal Boat Diaries followed. The story noted one of the best and most unexpected parts of canal life was finding love in Todmorden.

Robbie said at that time:

"Although having a boat has allowed me to meet people from all over the country, meeting that special someone through canal boating was something I definitely gave up on."

He said the nomadic life seems romantic but makes trust hard when one person keeps slowly moving away. He then said he met a beautiful Yorkshire girl, Alice, who was mad enough to fall in love despite constant travelling and who has a car.

His filming method stayed consistent across relationships and series. Robbie films in a punk rock style on iPhone and a drone with aerial shots and edits on the boat. The show sits on a bed of acoustic guitar and Robbie often laughs that one viewer told him people love watching because it is boring, a comment he takes as praise for slow television.

Recent updates add more context to the new public step. Robbie spoke this year about receiving an ADHD diagnosis, writing a book, recording new songs inspired by water and the chug of his Lister engine, and touring with a one man show.

He said:

"It's a one-man show, so I keep it really simple. There are never-before-seen video clips, behind-the-scenes photos, stories from my years on the water and a Q&A session, which is both the best part and the worst part in terms of what questions I'll face."

He said the live show changes depending on where he is and includes tracks he is working on.

There is so much going on in his life, with another series, gigs and life with Lyndsey now part of the routine. The series streams on U and Yesterday, on the free U app, on BBC iPlayer, and clips appeared on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox after Robbie slipped into a dank canal during filming. Tour information is posted on his Facebook page.

For now Robbie says the couple will stay on Naughty Lass and will not seek a bigger boat.
