Safeway Logistics to Permanently Lay Off 72 Employees at Kinston Amazon Facility

Safeway Logistics LLC has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice indicating that 72 employees will be permanently laid off at its facility located at 1302 Enterprise Blvd., Kinston, North Carolina.

The layoffs are scheduled to begin on November 18, 2025, with all separations expected to be completed by November 22, 2025.

Of the total affected, four front-office management employees and 68 drivers will lose their positions.

The WARN notice states that no bumping rights will be provided, meaning the affected employees cannot displace other workers in order to retain employment.

Safeway Logistics operates the site under contract with Amazon.com Services LLC, a fact noted in the disclosure submitted to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

The company describes its business model as focusing on shipping, handling and warehousing high-value products requiring special handling.

The North Carolina Department of Commerce Rapid Response team will be triggered by the WARN filing to provide transition assistance to impacted workers.
