Comcast’s Xfinity service experienced a major disruption Sunday evening, as reports of outages surged across several major U.S. cities.

According to Downdetector, more than 3,000 users flagged issues beginning at roughly 6:15 PM EST, spanning internet, television, and phone services.

Downdetector posted on X:

“User reports indicate problems with Xfinity by Comcast since 6:15 PM EST.”

Users reporting issues stated that approximately 70% were experiencing difficulties, specifically with the TV service.

The outage affected a wide geographical area, with cities such as San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and New York reporting clusters of impacted users, according to outage map data.

Downdetector also encouraged users to share their experiences via social media, using the hashtag #XfinityByComcastDown and we have also arranged a screenshot of Xfinity outage map:

As of now, Comcast has not issued a public statement identifying a specific cause for the failure. Service status dashboards such as UpdownRadar indicate that Xfinity’s core website remains accessible.

This is not the first time Xfinity has seen major outages in 2025. In March, a network damage incident in San Francisco disrupted internet, TV, and phone services for thousands of customers.

In May, over 20,000 users in the Houston area were affected when fiber-optic lines were intentionally cut — police described it as a deliberate act of vandalism, with Comcast confirming the investigation.

Comcast parent company’s broader operations have also come under scrutiny recently: in September 2025, it announced job cuts in its consumer unit, which includes Xfinity broadband, mobile, and TV, as part of a plan to centralize operations.
