Xiaomi launched the 17 Ultra in China on December 25, 2025, marking the debut of its latest flagship model focused on photography enhancements.

The phone features a Leica-tuned camera system with a 50-megapixel 1-inch main sensor using the Light Hunter 1050L technology for improved dynamic range.

It includes a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera capable of continuous zoom from 75mm to 400mm and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

A 50-megapixel front camera handles selfies.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun stated that:

"the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a Leica 1-inch Light and Shadow Master primary camera with the new Light and Shadow Hunter 1050L image sensor."

The device runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and Android 16-based HyperOS 3.

It sports a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.

The 17 Ultra has a 6800mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Prices in China start at 6,999 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version, 7,499 yuan for 16GB RAM and 512GB, and 8,499 yuan for 16GB RAM and 1TB.

Pre-orders began on December 25, with full sales set for December 27 at 10 a.m. local time.

The phone measures 162.9mm by 77.6mm by 8.29mm and weighs 224 grams.

It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Colors include black, white, Starry Green with a mineral grain texture, and Cool Smoke Purple.

A special Leica Edition variant includes a rotary dial for zoom control around the camera module.

Xiaomi did not announce a global release date at the China launch, nor did it provide specific information about international availability.
