Redmi has confirmed it will launch its next-generation Turbo 5 series smartphones in China on January 29.

The launch event will introduce two phone models, the Redmi Turbo 5 and the higher-performance Turbo 5 Max, alongside new audio and tablet products.

Xiaomi (Redmi parent company) announced the date through an official post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and General Manager of the Redmi brand, stated the Turbo series is engineered to fill the gap between mainstream and flagship performance.

He positioned the upcoming models as contenders for the intensely competitive 2,500 yuan (approximately $360) price segment.

A centerpiece of the launch is the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which incorporates several firsts for the brand.

It will be the first smartphone powered by MediaTek's new Dimensity 9500s system-on-chip.

To make things fancier, Redmi confirms the device will house a 9,000mAh battery, which the company claims is the largest battery capacity ever used in a Xiaomi or Redmi phone.

This battery supports 100W wired fast charging, 27W reverse wired charging, and carries a five-year warranty.

Lu Weibing has promoted the phone's capabilities, stating, "the Turbo 5 Max will be the best choice in the 2.5K yuan price range for 2026" and that its 9,000mAh battery is designed to challenge phones with larger 10,000mAh cells.

The Max variant will be available in at least two color options: Ocean Breeze Blue and a vibrant Sunrise Orange.

Official images show the orange model bears a visual resemblance to the Cosmic Orange finish available on Apple's iPhone 17 Pro.

Design details confirmed for the series include a CNC-machined metal frame, rounded corners, a fiberglass rear panel, and a dual-LED flash unit.

The standard Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a different processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset.

Leaks suggest it may include a large 7,500mAh battery with 100W charging, a metal frame, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Industry reports indicate this model is expected to be rebranded as the Poco X8 Pro for markets outside China.

The January 29 event will extend beyond smartphones.

Redmi will also unveil the Redmi Buds 8 Pro, featuring a hybrid driver setup and adaptive noise cancellation rated at up to 55dB.

A themed Redmi Pad 2 Pro Harry Potter Edition, featuring custom engravings and accessories, is also scheduled for presentation.
