Ubicquia Raises $106M Series D Led by 67 Capital and Marunouchi to Expand AI Infrastructure

Ubicquia said Monday it closed a $106 million Series D funding round aimed at accelerating growth across grid modernization, smart lighting and public safety technology, according to an official company statement released Feb. 23.

The Fort Lauderdale based company confirmed the growth round was led by 67 Capital and Marunouchi Innovation Partners with participation from Hamilton Lane, ClearSky, GMS and strategic partner Sercomm.

The capital arrives as utilities, municipalities and public safety agencies increase deployment of AI enabled monitoring systems designed to strengthen grid resilience, cut energy costs and enhance security operations.

The company said the new funding will accelerate development of artificial intelligence features across its product portfolio and expand direct sales efforts in domestic and international markets.

Ubicquia’s infrastructure platforms process billions of data sets each day and deliver real time visibility into power quality, lighting performance and operational reliability for customers across energy, municipal and enterprise sectors.

Chief executive Ian Aaron said the customer base now exceeds 1,000 cities and utilities.

“More than 1,000 customers, including the largest cities and utilities, are leveraging our AI driven smart grid, intelligent lighting and security and safety solutions. Our scale and partnerships make Ubicquia attractive for growth investors,” Aaron said in the statement.

He added that increasing demand on power networks and public safety requirements drove the capital raise and expansion plans.

The company said its UbiVu asset management platform will see expanded AI capabilities to support predictive maintenance, asset visibility and automated dispatch workflows for infrastructure owners.

Ubicquia also detailed recent additions to its streetlighting ecosystem including the UbiCell Micro controller and UbiScout smart camera accessory designed to deliver adaptive lighting, traffic intelligence and curb analytics through existing lighting infrastructure.

Cort Ahl, partner at 67 Capital, said the firm backed the round to support digital transformation of urban infrastructure.

“We are thrilled to lead this round and support Ubicquia's transformative vision for leveraging AI to monitor and digitize critical infrastructure,” Ahl said.

Ubicquia said its power monitoring service combines transformer level sensors with machine learning analysis to detect anomalies and diagnose disturbances across electrical distribution networks.

The company also outlined development of its UbiHub edge processing platform, which enables license plate recognition and live video capabilities using existing streetlight assets as part of public safety deployments.

The company said its platforms are deployed across the United States, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, with expansion efforts focused on commercial campuses, healthcare networks, universities and industrial customers as demand for infrastructure as a service offerings grows.
