This is the biggest update to Google Maps ever, delivering a vivid 3D view during driving that reflects buildings, overpasses, and terrain around the vehicle.

It highlights lanes crosswalks traffic lights stop signs and other road details to support confident turns and merges.

Google stated that Immersive Navigation gives driving a visual overhaul with 3D views and clear guidance.

The service shows alternate route options that include tradeoffs such as tolls versus traffic so drivers can choose based on current conditions.

Google also released an interesting Ask Maps feature that lets users ask questions to Google's maps apps and AI answers them. This brings AI directly into Google Maps app to enable users navigate roads that they can't navigate on the traditiona maps.

Real time updates and intuitive prompts appear to reduce guesswork at complex intersections and merges.

Google said Immersive Navigation is our biggest transformation of the navigation experience in over a decade.

The rollout covers eligible Android and iOS devices in the US right away.

Availability will expand over the coming months to CarPlay Android Auto and vehicles with Google built in.

Google Maps Immersive Navigation processes aerial imagery and Street View data through its models to deliver the updated visuals and information exactly when needed for each segment of a route.
