There is no polite way to say that the coffee in our office’s break room sucks! Even if you have the best coffee-making machine in the office, it won’t matter. Unless you are sure how to brew the perfect cup? It seems like a challenging task, though brewing coffee during break time shouldn’t have to be. Nor does the coffee need to taste like crap. It doesn’t matter whether you are brewing espresso or latte. Just knowing a few tips will help you better your coffee at your office.

So, let’s dive right into a few tips that will help you make one of the best cups of coffee you ever drank in your office.

Tips for Making a Perfect Cup of Coffee in the Office

Here we are sharing some of the effective tips for making a perfect cup of coffee in your office and enjoy more.

Tip 1: Make sure you use the right coffee (quantity too)

If your office uses pods/single-serve coffee makers, make sure you use the best pods brand and the correct amount of coffee. Try a few pods flavors to figure out which brand’s taste works wonders for you.

Also, one pod may not be sufficient to brew a strong cup of espresso. So, always use two coffee pods, hit the espresso button, and wait for the magic to happen. The best part about using a single-serve machine is that pods' flavors are innumerable. For example, if you are craving a hazelnut espresso, all you need to do is put your hazelnut coffee pod in the machine and wait.

If using whole coffee beans, make sure you grind them just enough to make a pot of coffee. Do not grind to store, else it will lose its taste and aroma. Try these whole coffee beans for a delicious cup of joe.

Tip 2: Add whole cream for flavor

Unless you are on a strict diet or are lactose intolerant or vegan, use the whole cream for your coffee. If you think that adding a bit of whole milk or half and half will increase your weight, you are doing it wrong. You do not have to add tons of cream or milk, a small amount will make its flavor come through, that most vegan options do not provide.

Also, make sure that the whole milk or thickened cream you use has no chemicals or added sugar. Do not compromise on the taste of your coffee as it will only disappoint you.

Tip 3: Use filtered water

Tap water doesn’t make decadent coffee as the minerals present in it do not interact well with coffee and will taste poor. Therefore, use filtered or bottled water and also keep an eye on the temperature of the water. Do not pour hot water into the machine to brew espresso because it can burn the coffee.

When brewing the coffee, make sure that the water boils above 195 F but below 205 F. If the water is below 195 F, the coffee will be under-brewed and will have a raw taste.

Tip 4: Always make a fresh pot

Coffee craving can happen anytime, and drinking coffee from the pot, sitting in the break room sounds appealing. But do not give into it. There is no saying for how long the coffee has been sitting there? A pot of coffee brewed an hour or two back will not taste better. So, it is always best to brew a fresh pot.

Though wasting a fairly fresh pot is also not good. So, encourage everyone to put a time-stamp on it, and everyone will know when it's time to discard it.

Tip 5: Keep your coffee-maker clean

The machine also needs some R&R. Therefore, after every pot that you make, clean the filter and machine thoroughly. If you do not care for it even a bit, it will get rusty and your coffee will not taste any better.

Coffee keeps morale and energy high in the office and gets you through the day. Keep working hard and make the day more productive with a perfect cup of coffee.
