The company shared the image through its X account and detailed the evolution of its Glyph Interface in a post on its community forum.

Phone (4a) maintains the brand's semi-transparent aesthetic with visible internal components, screws, and geometric elements visible beneath a white rear panel.

Camera setup includes a horizontal pill-shaped module containing two lenses, accompanied by a third lens positioned to the left, all enclosed in a metallic frame.

All-new Glyph Bar appears on the right side of the device as a vertical strip composed of six white square lights and one red light, housing nine individually controllable mini-LEDs.

The Glyph Bar replaces the multi-strip LED configurations found on prior models in the A-series.

Nothing described the feature in its community post as part of ongoing efforts to minimize screen interactions by providing at-a-glance notifications through light patterns.

"The Glyph Bar is the latest evolution of our original idea – the same way to reduce distractions," the post stated.

The company specified that the Glyph Bar delivers 40% brighter illumination compared to the lighting on the previous A-series phones and incorporates patented technologies for a neutral glow without light bleed.

"We’ve moved towards cleaner output, sharper signals and a system designed to be read instantly with six square lights, seven including the recording light," the post added.

Nothing confirmed the full unveiling of the Phone (4a) series for March 5, 2026, at 10:30 GMT during an event in London. The midrange lineup follows the Phone (3a) series, which featured three LED strips around the camera for notifications, charging status, and progress tracking.

Earlier models like the Phone (1) used five LED strips for basic alerts, while the Phone (2) expanded to 11 strips with added customization for live updates such as ride-sharing or delivery tracking.

Phone (3) introduced a circular Glyph Matrix with 489 mini-LEDs capable of displaying symbols, numbers, and percentages for tools like timers and battery indicators.

"We’re introducing the Glyph Bar for Phone (4a). 9 individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40% brighter than previous (a) series. Patented tech for a more natural, neutral, bleed-free glow," Nothing announced in an X post on February 20, 2026.

The design shift aims to offer precise light-based notifications for calls, messages, and app activities while occupying less space on the device's back.
