Perez Hilton Hospitalized Following TikTok Live Crisis

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton after receiving multiple emergency calls regarding a TikTok livestream displaying self-harm.

Medical personnel loaded Hilton into an ambulance and transported him to a local healthcare facility.

Podcaster Zack Peter confirmed that Hilton’s mother and three children were safe and were not inside the house during the broadcast.

The livestream showed Hilton cutting himself before social media moderators removed the broadcast and suspended his account.

Arriving deputies spoke with family members outside the home and verified Hilton was alone inside before adopting a police response strategy known as tactical disengagement.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detailed the decision to monitor the home from a position outside rather than immediately forcing entry.

"In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication."

"Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public,"

Law enforcement training guidelines define tactical disengagement as a deliberate choice to delay physical contact or custody when immediate force increases safety risks.

Police guidance states that expressing suicidal thoughts or engaging in self-harm inside a private home does not constitute a criminal offense.

Responding officers evaluate whether continued physical interaction poses unnecessary hazards to the individual, officers, and bystanders.

Four weeks before the emergency response, Hilton uploaded a video addressing personal struggles related to his family moving to Florida.

"I was in a bit of a spiral because I was overwhelmed with our move to Miami,"

In that same broadcast, Hilton described efforts to re-establish stability through physical exercise and religious attendance.

"I fell off the wagon in every sense, but I'm back,"

"There is a direct correlation between the effort you put in at the gym and the effort that you put in with your faith,"

Authorities confirmed no criminal charges or active investigations exist regarding the event.
