Xbox Releases Free 25th Anniversary Profile Gifts and Game Collections

Microsoft started distributing digital gifts to Xbox players to commemorate the platform's 25th anniversary on November 15. Account holders on console, PC, and mobile platforms can now claim virtual badges, custom themes, and gamerpics at no cost.

The initial batch of gifts features artwork designed by community creators Klobrille and Ben Kenobi.

Players logging into Xbox services receive an automatic profile badge displaying the anniversary logo and the years 2001 to 2026. This badge remains claimable until the end of December.

Xbox official newsroom detailed the badge distribution in its release announcement:

"Beginning today, players who sign in to their XBOX account on console, PC, or the XBOX mobile app will receive the XBOX 25th Anniversary profile badge, ahead of XBOX's 25th anniversary on November 15."

Console and PC users can equip the cosmetic items through standard system menus.

In conjunction with the profile items, Microsoft added historical game collections to the Xbox Game Pass library.

These groupings organize games by console generations, spanning the original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Featured titles include Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4, and Psychonauts 2.

Regarding the historical game releases, Xbox stated:

"These curated Game Pass collections will bring together memorable games from legendary franchises that defined each generation of XBOX, playable on console and/or PC."

The company also confirmed dates for an upcoming FanFest Tour across seven countries, including Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the United States.

Microsoft previously revealed a translucent green Xbox Series X console tied to the anniversary, though that hardware item requires purchase rather than distribution as a free gift.

The release of digital rewards occurs following administrative changes within Microsoft's gaming division. The division completed several rounds of studio restructuring, project cancellations, and workforce reductions over the preceding twelve months.
