How to Apply for the HyperOS 4 Beta
Eligible users can apply for the HyperOS 4 beta program through the beta testing center inside the Xiaomi Community app. The first batch of beta recruitment opened on August 13 at 11:00 AM China time.
Each device model is recruited in two phases. Once the first phase is full, the second phase begins. Selected users will receive OTA updates on a rolling basis.
For beta testers, it's worth knowing that initial builds may experience increased battery drain or slight heating during the first 1 to 3 days as the system optimizes in the background.
Bugs can be reported through the "Services & Feedback" app or the beta section of the Xiaomi Community, with logs and screenshots attached to help the development team identify issues more quickly.
HyperOS 4: What's New
Kernel-Level Upgrades
HyperOS 4 introduces two new technologies to the Xiaomi HyperCore kernel: Load Calculation and Memory Preloading.
Load Calculation enables full-link load prediction and precise optimization—from tap to launch to exit, every step receives targeted scheduling. Memory Preloading maintains 27.2% more available memory even after 8 hours of device usage.
Application Runtime Environment
Xiaomi built a dedicated application runtime environment for HyperOS 4 from the ground up, creating separate execution paths for system apps (launcher, gallery, weather). The system uses state-driven UI updates instead of traditional command-based updates, with 100% machine code execution reducing runtime latency fluctuations.
Real-world testing shows: the time to launch 30 consecutive apps dropped by 17.5%, and frame drops during extended use decreased by 28.9%.
Life-Inspired Aesthetics: Soft Glass
HyperOS 4 introduces "Soft Glass", which is a new visual material that creates warmer, more tactile light and shadow effects.
The lock screen now offers one-stop customization, while the home screen supports widget stacking and freely adjustable folders.
However, Soft Glass effects and related interactive lighting are hardware-dependent.
Due to performance limitations, these features are limited to devices powered by:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform and above (phones and tablets)
- Dimensity 9500 flagship platform and above (phones only)
- Xuanjie O1 3nm flagship processor and above (phones only)
Super XiaoAi 2.0
The AI assistant gets a major upgrade to version 2.0.
New features include:
- New interaction: "Island + Inspiration Ball" interface
- Expert Mode for advanced users
- Full ecosystem coverage—Super XiaoAi 2.0 works on Mac and third-party PCs as well
- Powered by Xiaomi's self-developed MiMo large language model
Additional system app upgrades include AI Voice Notes, Super XiaoAi Input Method, and an enhanced Fusion Device Center.
Global Availability
The beta rollout schedule currently applies only to Xiaomi users in China. Global users should expect the beta program to open at a later date.
Based on Xiaomi's previous rollout patterns, the global release of HyperOS 4 may begin around October 2026. International users can expect the update a few weeks after the China rollout.
The stable version of HyperOS 4 is anticipated to debut between September and December 2026, with the Xiaomi 17 lineup leading the way.
Quick Reference Table
