April SSI Payments for 2026 Scheduled to Arrive on April 1

Supplemental Security Income payments for April will reach recipients on Wednesday, April 1, the Social Security Administration has confirmed in its official 2026 benefit calendar.

The agency issues SSI benefits on the first of each month unless that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, in which case the payment shifts to the prior business day.

April 1 lands on a Wednesday with no holiday conflict, so the schedule holds without adjustment.

According to the SSA’s published payment guidelines:

“Supplemental Security Income (SSI) If you received Social Security before May 1997 or if receiving both Social Security & SSI, Social Security is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.”

This rule applies uniformly across the year, including April.

The maximum federal SSI payment amount for 2026 stands at $994 for an eligible individual, $1,491 for an eligible couple, and $498 for an essential person living with a recipient.

These figures reflect the 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment that took effect in January.

Direct deposits and mailed checks follow the same timetable.

The agency advises recipients who do not see the payment on the expected date to allow three additional mailing days before contacting the SSA.

Payments will proceed on schedule despite the partial federal government shutdown that began earlier in 2026.

The SSA has stated explicitly that Social Security and SSI disbursements continue without interruption because they are funded through dedicated trust funds and treated as essential obligations.

April marks a return to the standard monthly cycle for SSI after minor adjustments in prior months when the first fell on non-business days.

No delays, early releases, or changes to eligibility have been announced for this payment.
