The app, developed by TikTok's parent company ByteDance, targets users aged 18 and older and links directly to existing TikTok accounts for login and navigation between platforms.

PineDrama is downloadable at no cost on iOS via the App Store and on Android through Google Play, with no advertisements integrated at launch.

According to TikTok, users access content through a vertical feed of personalized recommendations or a Discover tab that categorizes dramas as all available or trending, covering genres such as romance, thriller and family.

The app includes a watch history section for resuming series, a favorites area for saving selections, comment functionality for viewer interaction and a full-screen mode that eliminates captions and sidebars.

Popular titles on PineDrama include "Love at First Bite," which has accumulated 18 million views, along with "The Officer Fell for Me," "The Return of Divorced Heiress" and "My Unwanted Billionaire Ex," some exceeding 100 million views based on in-app metrics.

"PineDrama is an app designed for consuming short drama content," states the official TikTok support documentation.

The launch follows TikTok's introduction of a Minis section within its main app in late 2025, featuring content from suppliers like Dreame, Stardust TV and ShortMax, many of which appear in PineDrama.

ByteDance operates similar microdrama services in Asia, including Melolo and Red Fruit, alongside its Douyin platform in China.
